X-Arcade to SEGA Saturn
« on: December 28, 2002, 01:19:39 am »
Before I say anything, I know everyone is gonna say why put a Saturn in there! Cause I wants to! Lots of games I like (XMen VS Street Fighter, Vampire Savior, Virtua Figther 2 Etc).  I could run a Mame box for some games, but its more expensive and I like the Xtras you get in the console versions.  Anywho...

I purchased an X-Arcade control deck so my DC and Xbox could go in the rig, but does anyone think I could get the Saturn to work too? My thought was the Saturn has 8 buttons plus a Start. The X-Arcade has enough buttons to support this if I make an adapter....Problem is Im not a techy, buy my roommate is.    ;) Anyone think I could buy the PS X-Arcade adapter cut the PS ends off, cut two cheap saturn controllers off and tinker the wires together? I would have to do a bunch of experimenting I'm sure, but is it feasible? Or maybe I could just buy a serial cable and the saturn controllers, but it seems some of the work would be done with wiring if I got the PS adapter. Either way funds aren't the biggest concern, I just want don't wanna burn up my Saturn or the X-Arcade. I can care less about the controllers.

Thanks mucho for listening to my rambling!

I dont think there is such adaptors.
But you can always hack a saturn game pad yourself then use the current x-arcade guts(its possible).

Or built a brand new small joystick for saturn.

i dont understand though :-\.
most of saturn games are perfectly emulated.
sfa,sfa2,sfa3,xmvsf,mshvsf,dark stalker.so why not use mame? :P

So let me get this straight. No way to rig your own Saturn cable adapter? I figured there had to be a way if they could make one for DC, PSX and the others, they just didn't want to cause it prolly wouldn't sell as well. I don't want to gut open the X-Arcade cause its also for the DC and XBOX. Thx for the feedback tho SNAAAKE! To answer your question.

"why not use mame? "

1. Requires a PC with ROMS -Only ROM's I have are on my Sega Smash Pack :) Me no like   PC's and it's expensive(relative to my saturns).

2. Image quality-Some may say different, but Saturn Via S-Video is Brighter and sharper than my 4400 TI Geforce S-Video out. I tested this with 3 games running via Mame .62 and my Saturn. Same TV, Same Game, Same day, Same Level, Same Characters. Saturn won.  (I stick to not possessing any ROMS they were demo versions...)   :D

3. Simplicity- Read 1

4. Virtua Fighter 2, Fighters Megamix, Last Bronx, DOA etc.-Mame no handle!

5. Because I'm silly. I'm sure you've noticed from my great use of english thus far.

thx for reading!

there arent any from what i know.
BUT,i did hear somewhere about makin your own however i cant remember where :-\.
You can always hack a saturn pad then use 15 pin molex connecter to switch between your x-arcade guts and saturn interface.its not as hard but if you really really need to know how its done..PM me.i will try to explain.
