AdvanceMame video config question
« on: July 31, 2005, 04:13:23 pm »
Hello guys,

I'm relatively new to "byoac" that is to say, I recently bought this cab:

A nice 1992 Jamma cab in very good condition, UK built I guess. If anything knows more about this kind of cab, all info is welcome.
The monitor is now Horizontal by the way.

I'm building a Mame cab of it (DUH :) ) and using ArcadeOS and Advancemame from the Omnicade CD. Using J-PAC for my controls and of course video is going through it.
A PCI ATI Rage is the video card and naturaly I am using the (wonderful condition !) built-in arcade monitor.

Now, I can start-up the PC no problem, get ARcadeOS to boot correctly, can select games etc. no problem.

However, for some strange reason, Advancemame always seem to insist on running the games in the highest possible resolutions. I mainly tried old games like Ms.Pac-man, Donley Kong (jr) Galaxian and Klax.
However these games run much better in lower frequencies. The Advancemame manual claims that it will run games always in the "Best" resolution for that game. But now, I have to configure the video settings for each and every game manualy.

Yes, I used ADVCFG to configure my arcade monitor, selected all the correct settings for a regular 15 khz arcade monitor, and all testpattersn display great.

But when starting games the screen flickers and the size is way to small. THis is because Advancemame puts it up in too high res.

Anyway I can let Advancemame behave a bit better ? Has this something to do with ArcadeOS ?

Thanks on any help !
