Do J-sticks and T-sticks have identical mounting plates?
« on: July 25, 2005, 06:03:52 pm »
I have templates for J-sticks, but I plan on using T-sticks. Do they have identical mounting plates?

No.  If you used the elongated oval holes in the J-Stik plate, you might be able to use the same for the T-Stik.  However, the 'main' round holes in the J-Stik do not line up with the T-Stik holes.

My 'test' control panel has J-Stiks in it...I had to drill some extra holes in order to try out the T-Stik.

Darn! Not the answer I was hoping for. Thanks anyways. At least now I know.

I thought it might be like that!

FWIW I ended up preferring the J-Stik and going back to those, but you never know until you try...

Well I found a T-stick template so all is well in the world again. I'm going to give these things a shot. I'm actually going with T-stick pluses. They can do some fancy tricks that J-sticks can't do. Thanks for the help.

I usually make a replacement plate for T-sticks that allow them to match up with the J-stick and Happ joysticks bolt pattern.  That way I don't have to worry about drilling more holes if I switch out joysticks.

I suppose if it came to it you could probably make a new mounting plate for the T-Stik.

Well it's a non-issue now, but still an interesting topic.

I would think it would be really easy to drill new holes into the existing mounting plate. It's just a sheet of metal, right?

As long as it's big enough, that should be OK.  The T-Stick is thinner though so it might not be possible...I can't tell without looking at one...

Unfortunately the T-Sticks mounting plate is not wide enough.
