I got my tokens today and introduced them to their cousins.  :P  They look REALLY good, although I have to say I agree that the "2005" text is just pushing the edge of readability.

I can't believe they sold out so quick tho!  I'm sure glad I pre-ordered :)

Where's the thread for next year's designs?  ;D

Seriously though, I'd like to suggest that the generic MAME tokens make a comeback appearance next year as well, I missed out on them and would love to get some when I swap my coin mechs.

I am thinking about it.  Interest seems to have picked up a bit in the last month.  Probably can only do Brass though, since there is a 10000 minimum on Nickel.

Stay tuned.

You guys don't want to see a new design for the MAME tokens?

Santoro, is there any financial benefit (to us, the purchasers) if you do a 2nd run versus a new design?

I actually dig the existing MAME token design, I just missed out on the last run.  I'd definitely be interested in brass tokens.

I would assume a new mold would have to be made. Printing off of an existing mold would remove that cost.

That said, I'd go for 200 Mame tokens, as they sold out just before I went to order some.

If I were ever to re-run either set of BYOAC tokens, I'd do it for less money than the first time around because they were a "community effort" with the artwork in effect donated by the artists.

Got my 100 nickel and 100 brass today. Swift delivery to the UK.

Thanks great quality glad I decided to get some.

On balance the brass ones look sharper but this is probably due to them being less reflective than the nickel.

cheers
Cheers Eric

Well, I finally got mine today.  They look great!  Still kicking myself for missing out on brass though.

For those members in CANADA, can you tell me if Customs hit you up for $13.79 in taxes and "handling" fees or if you received the package directly without fees?

Overall, Customs Canada seems to be hit or miss on packages from the US and it is really annoying.  What originally cost $51US then becomes $63CAN due to exchange rate conversion and then it becomes $75CAN with these added fees.  Grrrrr.

Santoro, correct me if I am wrong, but these were sold as "non-commercial" were they not?  If I can provide information to support this I may be able to get a refund.

I didn't claim 'commercial' or 'non,' but I was asked to declare what they are and I say 'arcade tokens.'  A few people have requested that I say 'gift' on the outside to avoid additional charges, but international mail fraud isn't my thing.

Canadian shipments are without a doubt the most problematic so far - a few folks took weeks to get their deliveries.  I think they must inspect them more often than other countries.

Hi Santoro, thanks for the quick reply.  I didn't mean to ask you to commit mail fraud.  It's just that I may be able to get a refund if it was a "non-commercial" import.  I took from your description of MAME vs BYOAC tokens that the MAME was "commercial-for profit" while the BYOAC was not.  No worries if you are not comfortable with my request, I am very happy with the tokens and your service.  Just getting really annoyed at Customs Canada.

I have always found that in my dealings with Canadian mail that it is INDEED the most problematic of any country.

I was actually referring to a guy in 2004 who 'demanded' that I write 'gift' on the front...  I wasn't referring to you... No worries.
