Identify these empty Cabinets!

Can anyone identify these empty cabinets. the light blue one shown i believe is a mario bros nintendo cab. (unless i am wrong)  but the black one?

It's a generica Taito cabinet used for a lot of games... You can tell by the curve.

Like what games? I would like to make it back to something cool, but i dont know what games are Taito and what games are midway etc....

I saved both of these from a death by bonfire. an amusement comany near by was trashing them. I thought they looked pretty solid and in need of restoration. Picked them up for free. Couldnt pass them by even though i am tight on space in garage presently.

Your right about the blue one is Nintendo.  They used that style for the Donkey Kong series, Mario Bros, and more.  Usually Blue is associated with Donkey Kong.

For the Taito Cab, if you can see some color from what's underneath the black you may be able to see what game it is from this link, plus it will show you other Taito games.

Taito cab: I would not so quickly call it "generic". Yes, it is the same shape they used for everything in the early 80's, but by rubbing off the black paint, you might find it is a Zookeeper (rare!) or other...

That brown wood-grain one looks like a Centuri cabinet (which they used for ALOT of their games).

Yea the mat mania is currently shown as a theme on that wood cab. right now its running vantage and a 200mhz pc. works pretty sweet. Thanks for all your suggestions. Tonight I will try and see what color is under that black taito cab. whats the best method for attempting to strip that black paint? depends on if its latex or enamel paint?

I think I've read around here that people have used Goof Off to get one layer of paint off at a time.  Maybe someone can conform that?

The same Taito cabinet was used for multiple games, but there were several different colors. The color of the cabinet designates what game went in it. For instance, if you've got green under there it was probably either a Jungle Hunt or a Jungle King.

Zookeeper had its own original art. Standard cab shape, but unique artwork.

As for removing paint, there are MANY threads here discussing it. Search for the Moon Patrol restoration. I think there was also a Stargate restoration and a couple more.

See if you can scratch off the paint first. If so, it's gonna be an easy ride! If not, then proceed with varying strengths of "stuff". Don't start right off with full on paint stripper. Sometimes it strips the original paint off too.

Could be a moon shuttle if it has a bottom cutout for the cash door...

Is the ID plate still on the back of that Nintendo cab (near the top)? If so, look and see what model number it is. DK's have a TKG model number, Popeye has TPP2 (or something very similar).
