Modded remote control?
« on: July 20, 2005, 09:51:19 pm »
Hey All,
I use a TV for my Cab, and I'm doing some upgrades.  Namely, I've altered the Cab for swappable CPs, a bezel, a strip of admin buttons, and a ton of new controls.

But I had a problem.  The bezel and admin buttons were blocking the IR port on the TV for the remote.  I did punch a small hole in the bezel, but then I decided that drilling a hole in my admin panel would just not look good.  And after weighing my other options, I decided to cut the IR LED off my remote and put it on the end of about 2 ft of wire.  The LED is now behind the bezel, next to the receiver on the TV.  Eventually, I'll power the remote from a power plug, and hide the remote itself.

Just wanted to know how others solved this little issue?

Oh yeah, and here's a picture of what I did (proof that I over-complicate things way too often)

Bump.

Has anyone done something like this?  Or have any comments?  I'm just wary of opening up my TV and moving the power button to another location.
