Do u need to have the mounting plate to mount the trackball from Ultimarc onto a CP, if u dont how do u mount it without the plate, as i cant see an easy way to screw it to the CP

You will need the plate unless you want to fabricate your own plate from sheet steel.

Any method NOT involving the mounting plate would be more trouble than it's worth. The only reason I could ever think of for not using one would be space limitations.

Ive mounted a bunch without a plate of any kind. You just have to route out the area on the underside of the CP and cut a hole where the trackball comes out, then throw some screws in there. I havent had any problems with it at all.
