GunCon2 Gun Working (almost!)
« on: July 19, 2005, 08:29:53 pm »
Okay.  I attached the gun and it detected new hardware.  I had already installed the driver so everything went smooth.

I pulled up the control panel app and all the buttons registered.  I was able to calibrate the gun and it calibrated fairly closely.

When I enter Area51 the cursor goes COMPLETELY NUTS!  It acts like it did before I had the video cable attached while in windows.

Any ideas?

Go into test mode (f2) and calibrate the guns.

(Also try running area51 at 640x480 resolution)

Guide me Obiwan.  Test mode (F2)?  Test mode inside the game?  I'm a nOOb and I'm certain that the key you're referring to is the Function Key F2.  I'm not in front of my cabinet right now so I'll have to talk my kids through it ...

I talked a friend through getting to "Test Mode."  Once in test mode he's unable to do anything.

Never tried to make area51 work. try starting with an easier game for testing  ;) Try pointblank that is ready-to-play. No internal game  calibration needed.

I'm using an ATI Radeon 9200 SE with S-Video out on an OLD TV.  MameWAH is running at 800x600.  I didn't change any of the game resolutions so they're playing at whatever they lauch at by default.

very strange. I thought area 51 worked without any tweaking when I 1st installed the guncon2mouse driver.

So you clibrated your gun & it tracks ok on your desktop, then you load area51 & it no longer tracks like before. What happends when you quit the game & go back to the desktop, does it still not track correctly?
