« on: July 16, 2005, 06:17:48 pm »
Is the VGAarcade card surpposed to work with a PC monitor aswell as an Arcade monitor? As im trying to setup my PC to go in my mame cabinet, but cant seem to get the VGAarcade card to display a picture on my PC monitor at all, just shows the no signal screen on the monitor?

Yes... does your AVGA card have two VGA type ports on it? One port outputs limited to 15/31.5Khz and the other port is std.

No its just like a normal gfx card, one socket for the monitor to plug into, and one for s-video

Ah they made that change when they went to the 9200 series. The 7000 series has two outputs.

You might have to look at your monitors minimum refresh rate. Some VGA monitors will not see a signal if it is below 31Khz.

Sadly the "dos" screen at startup (such as the BIOS) is not in fact 15KHz signal. Its actually over 31Khz.... This is why its viewable on normal PC monitors. I think most VGA cards "doublescan" these frequencies (ie draw every line twice) so they can be displayed.

If the ArcadeVGA is outputting 15Khz signals, then you won't see it on a normal Pc Monitor.

If you have the model with one VGA connector, then you can ONLY connect it to an ARCADE MONITOR.

Here's the instructions for the new ArcadeVGA card.
Hantarex Polo 15KHz
Sapphire Radeon HD 7750 2GB (GCN)
GroovyMAME 0.197.017h_d3d9ex
CRT Emudriver & CRT Tools 2.0 beta 13 (Crimson 16.2.1 for GCN cards)
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
Intel Core i7-4790K @ 4.8GHz
ASUS Z87M-PLUS Motherboard

Incidentally, the performance with a PC monitor (the old AVGA) is poor due to the fact it is only intended for setting up / maintenance.  ie you should not use an ArcadeVGA with PC monitor for gaming.

Just put a different (normal) graphics card in while you set the pc up, and switch back when you go to an arcade monitor.
