Need specs on a real jukebox
« on: July 15, 2005, 10:19:21 pm »
I might be getting an older AMI Jukebox, Model R-92. Its being let go really cheap, but it displays an error code. Its capable of playing 45's and CDs. Does anyone know where I can find what the error codes mean? And what the ratings of the amp and speakers are?

Thanks

The error codes are listed in the service manual. I have a list of some of the errror codes. You can buy brand new jukebox manuals (and parts) from www.victoryglass.com

The Victory Glass part numbers for the manual you need is:

70-5769 (R-559) Rowe-Ami model R-92 Field Service and Parts Manual, 184 pages! ($39.95). Worth every penny!

If you'd like (or need) to pay less money check out ebay seller jeffwager and his manual selection.

This jukebox uses Rowe # 6-09931-02 (a.k.a. 60993102) 130 watt amplifier (65 watts per channel). If your box is missing the amplifier, I have an extra rebuilt tested ready-to-go amplifier for your machine. Shoot me an email at KLayton888@aol.com

BTW, the R-92 is great sounding and dependable running machine. The jukebox is old enough now that the battery for the memory in the Central Control Computer (CCC) is probably dead/weak and needs to be replaced. It's a lithium 'coin' style cell and it's soldered in.

Thanks a lot. The one I'm looking at also comes fully loaded with 45s and CDs, and comes with the manual. I think I'm gonna get it.

Right now, its apparently getting something called "ERRO4" on the LED segment display. My guess at worst case scenario is a bad chip of two.

You're gonna steal that jukebox. Error 4 is "battery voltage too low" on the Central Control Computer board. The battery is shot and needs to be replaced. It uses a single soldered in "CR2032" type lithium coin cell (3 volts).

I replace it with a slip in battery holder and a common grocery store lithium coin cell CR2032 slip in. If you go that route then get Mouser # 534-1061 ($1.44) battery holder which will solder in place of the original battery.

Mouser (www.mouser.com) has the original soldered in batteries as well (choose any one of these):

614-CR2032FH Renata brand ($1.43)

658-BR2032-1HE Panasonic brand ($1.96)

672-60324 Varta brand ($1.10)

If you have a Batteries Plus store in your area they should stock those batteries.

Radio Shack special order # 960-0216 lithium battery.

Definitely will ;D. Its in bad cosmetic condition, and needs light bulbs apparently. They say they don't know what it needs to fix the problem with the error. hehehe.

The light bulbs that light up the grill on that model I think are # S-11 Sign bulbs (11 watts). Don't use any other wattage bulbs or you'll damage the light flasher/controller unit or melt the plastics. You can choose whatever color (they are transparent colored bulbs) bulb you want in this type of light bulb, but the common colors are yellow, red, orange, blue, and green. The yellow bulbs look great on this kind of jukebox.

I've seen some of these bulbs at Home Depot and some lighting stores.

Theres a big electrical and lighting place where I buy the #44s for my pinball machine. And can you still get the stylus for the turntable?

Yes, you can buy the needle at www.victoryglass.com

You can also buy records from them as well as title strips.
