Arcade mame + naomi ??
« on: July 15, 2005, 04:38:30 am »
I am about to make my UAII cab and will be running mame on it but as The Virtua striker series and a few other Sega titles i loved in the arcades are not on mame and are unlikely to be for a very very long time.

Is there a way of putting in the naomi hardware in my cab and switch between using mame on my comp and using  naomi ?

I must admit i have no knowledge of naomi other than it runs on dreamcast like engine but modified and that you use cartridges.

Assuming this is possible would it work on my tv? or would i need a special monitor? and secondly what would be the best method of purchasing the equipment needed - look on e-bay? specialist dealers etc.

Hope someone can answer this for me many thanks - Marky

First stop should be:

http://www.sega-naomi.com/

That way you can get a handle on what the equipment is like (and what is required for the games you like).

If you were to build a JAMMA cabinet, interface to your PC using a JPac and  play NAOMI games that use JAMMA controls, then I would expect that you can use a normal JAMMA switch.

One issue that you may want to resolve early on would be choice of monitor (since NAOMI can drive VGA directly).

Cheers.
