CP joystick mounting question
« on: July 14, 2005, 05:00:27 am »
I currently have the Ultimarc e-stiks on my cabinet, however im upgrading to some ball top joysticks that i bought from a fellow forum member, and im a little confused on the mounting.

I already have 3/4" holes drilled for the e-sticks, and my CP wood is 1/2" thick, therefore i cant mount it on the bottom without routing the surrounding wood down.

My gut instinct was to rout the wood down about half way, then drill 4 holes top to bottom to secure the stick, and use nuts to fasten it to the wood.

I dont know if ill need to widen my hole, and if there is a better way to secure the sticks.

As a bonus question, i was thinking of putting lexian over my CP, whats the easiest way to match up my already drilled holes with holes that i need to drill in the lexian? Should i use the same bit that drilled my wood as the lexian?

Route the CP to mount your sticks... Try to make it so the stick fits snug. This will keep it nice an strong.

Place your lexan over the CP and clamp it. Pre-drill the holes with a regular drill bit. If you do this with the drill on reverse it will melt the lexan and not crack it. Then use a router with a laminate bit to finish your holes.
