WTB: BYOAC 2004 Tokens
« on: July 08, 2005, 03:41:28 pm »
Been kicking myself for not ordering them and am now really regretting it.

Does anyone have any they would like to sell to me?

I'd also be intrested in just getting one or two; be willing to pay much more than they originally went for.

Not to smash your all dreams, but I haven't received a PM or anything so it's looking a little doubtful.  I was hoping someone who bought like 100 wouldn't mind getting rid of 5.  5 of nickel and 5 of brass would be a dream, but it's looking a little doubtful.

Lesson learned don't procastinate on the tokens.

hmm... so just how much are my 2004 BYOAC tokens worth nowadays??  :P

I forget how many I actually bought, but I'll check and see if I'm willing to part with a few and let you guys know.  How many would you all like and what are you offering?

Well let's see how many you have before I start offering you things.  But I'll be paying or trading for more than they originally went for.

Boy.. I had no idea what I was getting into when I posted that lol.  I've had a lot of people ask me about it so I sent the same PM to everyone... I really wasn't expecting this response, so hopefully I explained myself well.

2600, you've got a PM.

I wish Santoro would do another run of 5000... I'll bet he could sell them out... but I'm sure he's worried that it would diminish demand for 2005 tokens.

You can't mint 2004 Tokens in 2005.  That would be like printing new mickey mantle rookies.  They would just be reprints.  If you don't have the real thing, it's not worth having.

Okay, they aren't quite the same, but still.

i don't know about you guys, but i've already asked santoro to do at least a little run of the old tokens along with the new.  i'd personally buy 200 old tokens along with my 200 new tokens.  it sounded like he was thinking about it, but that was some time ago when the 2005 token threads were just getting started.  maybe i'll write him again...and point him towards this thread if he's worried about demand.

I seem to remember that when this was brought up, Santoro looked into and said the minimum order was just too much.  I recall that he could split an order somehow, but still wound up with thousands of the older tokens... and he wasn't sure they would sell.

I don't honestly think he'd be able to sell many more, but what do I know.

Just found this thread, been absent.  Sorry I haven't been very responsive.

I would consider a run of '04 tokens after selling most of the 2005 ones, but I am highly skeptical of the demand for even this year's tokens.  I have said  this before, but I have a hunch I have flooded the market a bit.

If there isn't enough demand for 2005 tokens to order a batch, I will do a pre-order for a re-run of 2004 tokens to see if we can muster up enough demand for a run of those.

At the price you currently have, I would probably buy 200 of each. If you could get the price down a few cents a piece, I would get 500 each.

I've been thinking of doing a personal run of a BYOAC/Mame hybrid tokens... BYOAC atomic design on front and the MAME cab on back. Not sure if I'll run it, and would only do so if it doesn't conflict with Santoros runs/plans. But if I do, I'd have plenty of these hybrid-variant-customs to sell to anyone interested. Of course... that doesn't address the issue of getting the 04 tokens as originally offered. But sorta collectible nonetheless.  ;)

For a hybrid, I'd do the MAME cab on the front and happy Atari guy on the back...
