New IPAC Version release - 2 Months!!
« on: July 08, 2005, 06:57:29 am »
Hi guys,
I don't know if I'm late to the plate or not but I recently was notified by Ultimarc that there will be a new release of the IPAC. :o  All I could get out of them was that It will, unlike the previous version, support the L and R triggers on the XBOX controller. Also it is going to be released in about two months.

If anyone else has more info, please post it here!

Thanks,

Well Andy said over 18 months ago that he would be releasing a 36 input version of the Minipac. So perhaps the new Ipac will also have 36 inputs.

Personally I would also like to see console support built in so that it's not necessary to buy separate converters.

I'd be more interested in Playstion support than Xbox support.

maybe it will have PS2 support, he wasn't very forthcoming with details.... though I would have eaten it up! :)... BUT, Im super excited for the new version.

Does this mean that I would need more than just the xbox "adapter" to run it to my box? Or is it the same thing? :)

I'm hoping its the light gun board he was looking at ages ago.  Now that would kick some behind... Not sure how the left or right buttons would be effected... but I can dream :)

I emailed Andy and he says that there is nothing new coming out.

Are you saying the first post in this thread is an error?  There is nothing new at all coming out or nothing light gun related?

Here is the exact email: :)

Alex,

The triggers are not supported at all in the current version. The new
version should be approx 2 months away.

Regards

Andy

That sounds like there will be a new version of the Ultimarc Xbox adapter in 2 months... NOT the Ipac.   They are two entirely different products.

I agree.

AlanS17: Andy is releasing a PSX adaptor (very similar to the xbox one) soon, I'm sure he'll announce when exactly...

Apologies for not checking here often enough recently and spotting this...
This is the X_Box control adaptor I was referring to. Yes there will be a new version of the X-Box control adaptor which will support triggers, analog joystick press-down, and some more functions in the "two-into-one" mode.
The PSX adaptor is in stock but awaitn g some testing of a final bug-removal, hope to be on sale end of this month.
The adaptors for connecting PSX and X-Box to an arcade monitor are undergoing some re-design using a PCB instead of the original ones which used a sync sep chip mounted inside a plug which proved too difficult to manufacture with 100% quality. So these will not be available until end of the month also.

Cool! I was just wondering if there was any way of displaying XBox on an arcade monitor- seems like a modded XBox running Mamedox etc would make for the perfect cheap emu-cab setup.
Thanks Andy!

Just to comment on game testing...i have not done extensive testing as i just received it yesterday....but so far, it works like a charm. I played MvC 2 for about 15 mins (had to go out) and it was very responsive and i was able to do combos with ease.  PS2 owners, this has been worth the wait cause this will be a great product.   ;D
