Arcade Controls Work But Not In Games? Why?
« on: July 07, 2005, 01:46:17 pm »
I contacted Andy about my Ultimarc not working and he gave me a prgram to test my keyboard. The program understood that my buttons worked but they don't work in my games. When the program opens up and gives you all of that info. and then says push a button to continue my button works with that. But once I get into the game it dosn't work. Do you think it has to do with my games or something? Please help.

Do the games work with a standard keyboard connected?  If so then it's not a games problem.    If the games do work with a standard keyboard, check if there are additional keyboards installed in the Windows Device Manager hardware tab and delete them (just a hunch).

Also make sure MAME is configured for use with a keyboard rather than joystick or other input. And make sure the buttons are mapped properly. They should be mapped properly by default, but it never hurts to check.

I ran into a similar problem on my machine - some buttons worked fine except when playing a game; Mine was fixed after I uninstalled/reinstalled mame, and deleted everything in my ctrlr file. Good luck!
