now if my thinking is correct, it makes things neater, right?  which encoder did you use?  here are my goals...

1) Ipac4
2) 4 players (duh)
3) 8 buttons per (not including start and coin button)

this should simplify things.

yes it should work out very well. neatness was very clean. i ended up using a 25 pair cat5 cable that i have access to through work so i had more than enough color coded wires in a neat little bunch :)

nope.  8 buttons.  I am making it ePSXe playable as well and there are 8 main buttons for playstation, snes has 6 buttons, etc...  then there are also the four directions on the Joystick as well... but i was not counting them originally.  just the 8 buttons

8 buttons each player
4 directions each player

that only leaves 8 for admin., coin, start, mouse, etc.

you might have a better chance going with a keywiz and a gp-wiz. just a thought...

the Ipac 4 has a coin and start already & I will either utilize the shift feture for the other admins, or I will also use the Ipac2  and as for the mouse, i plan on optipac-ing the mouse/trackball.

I used stranded cat 5 cableing to give it better durability over single stranded, although I used single stranded to ground everything.  So far it is holding well.
