Just got my Supers...
« on: December 18, 2002, 09:28:28 am »
I just replaced the Happ Ultimate sticks in my cabinet with Happ Supers.  I'm amazed at the difference!  The balance between diagonals and straight directions is so much better; with the Ultimates, it was almost impossible to move in a straight line without veering to the diagonals.  Even though the stick is in 8-way mode, 4-way games such as Pac-Man and Donkey Kong are so much more playable now!

If you like the circular feel and the "balance" between diagonals and straights you should give the P360s a try.

I'd never heard of P360's.  Who makes them?

These were the ones I got.  I had a chance to try out both the Happs and the Wicos before buying.  Everything is IDENTICAL (knob, shaft, base, etc) EXCEPT for the SPRING.  Happ puts a harder spring in their P360 joystick.  I was more comfortable with the spring tension in the Wicos <-- not as loose as the spring in the Ultimates and slightly closer to the spring in the Supers.

Does the perfect 360 work with an i-pac? or do you need the optipac?

P360s are the same as supers but without the microswitchs.  You also need +5volts and a ground (you can get from the ipac or the keyboard cable).

If you don't mind the click... stick with the supers until you need more joysticks for something else.  I don't think they are worth the upgrade from supers... but they are from ultimates..

I have really been noticing the click, much louder than the Ultimates... the programmer part of me likes it, as I know exactly when the move has been triggered... I could see it being an annoyance for games like Gyruss, but I think the answer to that is just to crank up the volume on the game!  :)

ok sweet.. so hooks up the same as a super.. but you need a +5V and ground.. can a spare ATX power supply handle that as well?

How do the 360's perform compared to the supers? (besides less noise)

okay lets put it this way..you can use super and comp joystick shaft with P360 sensor hub.

all you do is get rid of the micro switchs and install that hub..you can test how it feels RIGHT NOW :D.

get rid of the micro switch and move around the joystick and pretend like you are playing..and thats how it feels.
no hiting anything ever..just in the air.
