p360 ball top
« on: July 02, 2005, 05:20:58 pm »
I have some p360's that I would like to replace the bat type handle with some ball top ones. What will fit? Id rather not change the height if possible. And if you have a link to some one selling them Id appreciate it.

The SlikStik replacement handles are the top of the line, IMHO. They do make the stick taller overall, though.

Mark R. has these as well -- maybe he'll chime in.

Ponyboy, in the buy sell trade forumm, sells wico balltops that work for most.  I had to shave a bit off the spacer but it was easy.  I went with the 4" type and not the 3.5" and I am happy with the height.

As far as I know the only other option is the replacement handels on slikstik.com but they are expensive.

As CJK said I have the SlikStik pear handle stainless sticks.  They are a little higher, but they feel great.  The height hasn't been a problem.

well I was thinking of something like the wico one so I think Ill give that a try.
I think that the slikstick ones would be to top heavy. I like the sticks nice and tight.

So wait.  SlikStik makes stainless shafts that will replace the shafts on my Wicos?  I thought all the GGG and SS replacement shafts were for Happ joys?

Off to SStik

SlikStik claims that their p-360 shafts don't work with Wicos.  Nobody can figure out why not, though- they certainly look as though they ought.  Please let us know how it works out.

If I have read correctly, the P360 sticks are slightly longer than the Wico sticks....
....when you put it in a Wico base it would be a little loose and adversely affect gameplay.

All this is conjecture based on what I think I've read, but it's a good story and I'll stick with it until someone has a better theory.

Sounds reasonable.  I'll buy that answer.... and make a suggestion to the good people at SlikStik to provide a small plastic spacer and start advertising the shafts as replacements for Wicos as well.   :)

Happ allready makes the spacers.  They come with the P360.  You can order just the spacers from Happ though.  You might try ordering them through PonyBoy.

Are you referring to part 95-2470-00? (that's the 5/32" metal sleeve used when you're mounting P360s on a metal panel)  I don't know if it's the right size to make the SlikStick shaft fit into a Wico base, but interestingly enough, it's the exact thickness that I determined was right to make a Wico shaft fit into a Ms. Pac Reunion base.

So, if you buy the SlikStik P360 shaft, does it require you to use the metal sleeves that come with the Happ P360?

Hmmm....

If I have read correctly, the P360 sticks are slightly longer than the Wico sticks.  In this case, a Wico stick works in the P360 by basically compressing the hell out of the spring so that you can get the E-clip into it.

The Wico stick is about 1/16" too short for the P360.  So you don't have to compress the spring too much.  Here's my page on the conversion

The spacer bushing that came with my P360's needed to be cut to 1/2" for a wood CP or 5/32" for a metal CP.  Since this stock bushing is longer than you need, you could just cut the appropriate size spacer from the bushing.  When installing the Wico in the P360 you don't use the bushing because the top part of the Wico shaft is already longer than the P360 shaft.

If the only problem with the SlikStik p360 replacement shafts is that they're too long below the stepdown, then the spacer ought to cure the problem.  Or dremel a new e-clip groove higher up.  Or put a hardware store 19 cent nylon spacer between the e-clip and the actuator.  Or a stack of washers, for crying out loud.

There must be somebody with a Slikstik p360 handle and a Wico joy that can test this.

I noticed the Klingon back when your site first made the BYOAC news page, but it never ocurred to me to wonder if it actually said anything.  I just figured you liked the look of the Klingon.
