Vacuum forming HO scale slot car body

Hello,
I have searched though the archives of this board and have found some data regarding Vacuum forming but, i would like to know if anyone here has ever Vacuum formed a HO scale 1/64 slot car body. In most cases, the data that i found seemed to be for larger Vacuum form projects. I just want to make a simple,  HO scale 1/64 plastic slot car body.

Please advise.

After a lot of searching on the web and with the assistance of some slot car guru's, i finally found instructions on how to make a HO 1:64 scale slot car from scratch the  "proper way". (i'm going broke buying these cars from Ebay)

Not that Vacuum Forming isn't a great process but, i always wondered how i could obtain the level of detail on each car (eg:door handles, gas cap, countours on hood and trunk, etc.) using a Vacuum Form sheet. Well, the answer is, you can't. Most detail obtained using a Vacuum Form sheet would be on the inside of the car. If any detail could be obtained on the outside at all, it would not be to the level of detail i am looking for. However, you can get all the detail you want by going to this web site, obtaining the products described and following the instructions;

I have already made 4 cars using this "Resin" method and it works great!!!
It is also fast and easy. Once the silicone mold is finished, you can produce a new car body approx. every 10-15 minutes.

Just what I needed, another way to waste more of my time.

At least I'll be able to have a semi truck on each lane, and I'll be able to make a copy of an original batmobile and icecream truck so I wont be making my HO friends cry why I put them on my road and rail track.

Freight train + 30 year old Batmobile = good fun.

This is an odd 5th post, are you really a BYOAC veteran whose embarrassed about his other hobby?

On your Resin Casting page, Is that Mach V on a t-Jet 500 chasis?

Where is the swap meet in Illinois, and how much would you charge for a Mach V body?

Yes that is a Mach V on a TJet chassis.  I'm not completely happy with it.  They sit too high. There is no interior yet. I have another one that I got at the swap meet a few years ago, but it sits high as well.

The swap meet is in Matteson, IL at the Holiday Inn (I-57 and US 30).  It is held in March and November (I don't know why I said October before), but I have not seen a definate date for the next one yet. I'll see if I can track down the actual date.


I generally sell bodies for $10.00 to $20.00.

If I didn't sell my Dart two weeks ago, I probably would have paid 50 bucks for an HO slot car, although it is tempting.

Mike Vitale is usually at the Slot car shows, and the price is lower, especially if you buy just the body.
