Need help with devil coin mechs!!!
« on: June 27, 2005, 10:18:20 am »
I have an old cabinet with the door and mechs still on there. They work but only some of the time because of dirt, grime, and other stuff. I decided to take them off and clean them (not knowing that it was 5-6 different parts) I went to put it back together how it was when I discovered that IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO PUT BACK. Putting this thing back on must be an art form becasue I know how to put it together But holding all of the parts together while I am trying to put it back on would take like 6 hands. (which I don't have) PLEASE HELP!!!!

Pictures of the same type of coin door attached, But the mechs are different (it still might help)

If it's going to take a couple more hands, why don't you recruit a friend?

Hmm....that's a picture of an Entropy brand "pinball" style coin door as shipped with late model Williams/Bally pinball machines.

Are you saying you took the coin acceptors (chutes) apart and don't know how to put them back together? Or is it that you just don't know how to put the completely assembled coin acceptors (chutes) back into their holders on the coin door? If it's the latter then they just snap into the holder with a flip down quick release latch.

I know how to assemble them its just that the mech pieces just kind of hook into each other. They are not sturdy and fall off very easily. Here is a diagram (pathetic, yes) of how the pieces hook together:

oooooooooooo    <---------- one piece
oooooooooooo
oooooooooooo
oooooooooooo
        llllllll  <------- hook thiggy
        llllllll

      ---------
<------- where the hook whould go into on another
      ---------                  part

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Its kinda like a pencil in a pencil sharpener, and thats all that is holding the pieces together. The pencil falls out of the pencil sharpener very easily.

Oh and Ken the mechs in the picture are different from the ones that I own. I wish mine were that easy.

If I were to buy new coin mechs what kind should I get to fit that door. Ken if you know please help.  ;). Or do any coin mechs fit any door (as one could tell I don't know that much about coin doors)

Thanks for the help

Judging from that picture it looks like that coin door uses standard mechs.
