Hi. I know that you have to lightly sand between each layer of paint to get a smooth finish, but are you supposed to sand the final coat?

Nope. If you've done your job on the previous layers, you should have a very smooth surface over which you apply the final (finish) coat.

The only thing you would do to the finish coat is buff/polish it, if desired.
