Vinyl Stickers (Arcade, Console, Star Wars, etc)
« on: June 23, 2005, 08:59:18 am »
I just stumbled accross this eBay Seller and noticed all of the cool stickers for pimping out a cab or other use. There are ones for Sega, Dreamcast, Namco, Atari, Gamecube, PS2,Cocacola, Star Wars,etc...

Anyways price seems good and figured other may be interested. The prices are locked with Buy It Nows. I'm not affiliated with the seller. I just purchased a couple and figured I'd point them out. I'll update this thread with what my opinion of these stickers are when they arrive.

Think you'd be intersted in making one for me if i sent you a file?  I need some vinyl side art, but know nothing about formatting or want to spend a fortune.

Those decals aren't printed, though. They're just cut. Are you looking for something printed, or would a simple cut outline be fine enough for your needs?

Well, my cab is called Pac-Cade and has kind of a pacman theme to it.  But it's got like digitized blocky grahpics on the CP and bezel, not the cartoony-type graphics.

The sides are just solid black, i just need something to spice it up a little bit, nothing fancy.  I was just thinking of maybe the ghost house with the 4 ghosts that says 'ready' under it.  And maybe the maze outline or some dots.  I'm open to ideas, but i want to keep it fairly simple.  I was thinking maybe just a blown up screen shot of the 'pear' level of mrs pac man right before it starts with all the dots on the screen and it says 'ready' on it....or a screenshot of the first level on pacman.

please remember 3 things...
1 - my equipment does not do gradients, it is designed for solid colors
2 - i can do a hell of a job if i have a good vectorized image
3 - i am slow so have patience...lol

other than that I am good to go

Can it do a big graphic, like a big side art picture?  Or is it better to maybe do smaller separate graphics like each of the ghosts and pac man separate and them stick them to the side of the cab that way.

Solid colors is fine, like i said, i'm not looking for anything real fancy, just something other than the black side of the cab would be good.

What would you charge for something like this....just a rough idea.  Places like Kinkos have no idea how to do graphics for arcades, they just don't turn out right.

It's probably in your best interest to have all the pieces done seperately and then just piece them together yourself. This would not work so well for the maze, though.

The most expensive part of the vinyl cutting is the size of the sheet of vinyl being used. If you pack them all in tightly, you use less vinyl and the cost is lower. Besides, if you want multiple colors it'll take multiple sheets. So you wouldn't be paying for just 1 piece of sideart if you got it positioned at full size. You'd be paying for 3 or 4.

It would be best to print just the maze at full size and then pack the characters, dots, etc. onto smaller sheets as small as possible.

Big images are usually not a problem, though. I can't speak for conseit's equipment, but these things are usualy cut on plotters. The vinyl comes off of a roll that can be up to a few feet wide and as long as you need it to be.

my plotter can cut up to 22 1/2" wide and as long as you want.
