And while you're at how about how you got Windows to work on your arcade monitor. Bablefish makes a total mess when translating Italian to English.

It would be very appreciated!

Well until this guy gets this thing translated I think Babelfish does an OKAY job with it.  I don't know italian, but I think I will translate a bit better what Babelfish has given me. It reads:

October 2002 News

Bought on Mameworld.com, 2 months ago, a Lightgun for the PC. ....It's not very big.  Requires open USB Port, uses a passthrough device from your Video card.  No driver installation necessary (?), comes packed nicely.  Works for Win98se and Windows XP!

The Gun arrived!  Actlabs makes products for Mame on PC.

But officially, the gun ONLY works for CRT Monitor for PC.....

That means it won't work for LCD monitor, TV,  or Arcade Monitor...but....but are we sure?  noooo....but I'm pretty sure there is no way to make it work on an LCD....

Here's some pictures, sorry I don't have digital camera....yet....

Here it is playing on Mame32 on my arcade cabinet that is being driven by a laptop that is attached.

Then it shows it being used with a 15KHz arcade monitor in my cabinet with Operation Wolf.

Well that is my translation of Babelfishes Italian>English gibberish!  I think it's pretty accurate.

jimizanei, perhaps, you could post detailed plans on what you did?

Folks I have an idea that he doesn't speak english....if anyone here speaks English/Italian, please translate for us :)

So, if the arcade monitor had a 15-pin VGA connector, the Act Labs gun would be able to flash the screen white.  Then, as long as Windows believes it is putting out a 15KHz horizontal signal, then the Light should work...

All the light gun does it flash the screen white, then it waits to see how long it takes for it to see the first white pixel.  Then it uses some math, knowing the horizontal refresh and vertical refresh and resolution of the screen, to determine where the gun was pointed.  If Windows knows what the Hor/Vert/Res are, then the Act Labs gun knows as well.  If the arcade monitor had a 15 pin connector so that the Act Labs box could flash the screen, then I would assume the Act Labs gun should work just fine with that monitor.

Is this not right?

I've looked around on his page some more, and it seems he's using a scan converter to get Windows running on an arcade monitor(he has pics showing the boot-up screens on his arcade monitor). Which means Windows doesn't know what refresh rate the arcade monitor is using. The question is which side of the scan converter he plugged the gun into?

I don't think the gun gets the refresh from windows; it calculates it when you calibrate the gun

Hi..people...excuseme for my bad english and for late answer , but now I have  lot problems on my house!

First the light gun work on ARCMON 15khz only IF you have a right RGB converter...
Many kind doing this now, on shops are absoulute not RIGHT for this...many can't show WINDOWS..many anothers have to much limits (like 16 bit colors and setup always the videocard..)
So I have make many tests..for many and many hoires and I have make a NEW one inside a OLD one...(a old CRATIVE RGB converter...of 3 years ago about 600 $ wos costed)
so..my modify is not really completed..but near...
The problem is the cost...!
For now I can't give to anybody my project..but in the next time , togheter with a little elettronic house..we like to make a new RGB card (external ofcourse) more little of MY and with a price around 50$ ...for this I must wait...if nothing go on the right side...BEFORE to close my WEB page I give every INFO and pictures FREE...this for sure...
