Where did I see new false coine doors?
« on: June 20, 2005, 04:26:43 pm »
I have tried every link I can find yet, I can seem to find the site that was selling false coin doors.

I was looking for parts several months ago and came across false coin doors for home built cabs.

If I have to, I will buy a used one and repaint it and ripout the mech. in the back. Yet I would rather have a new one.
                 Can someone help me out.
They treated me like an animal and that's what I became.

I think $32 is alot for a fake coin door. Granted it's brand spanking new, but it's basically $32 for a fancy metal plate. Yeah you can find cheaper ones on ebay. Otherwise, I'll sell you an over/under in good condition without the mechs or coin box.

Wow, I just read my last post. It looks like I'm dogging another product to make a sale. Didn't mean to do that. I'm sure their coin door is very nice. If you want a real one, though, I have one for you.

The happ door looks decent.  Does it come with working lock??  It looks like it.  Are the coin slots plastic, could be be lit?  If not I think they missed a feature that home builders would like :)

My only real complaint about them is that there's no actual slot for a coin. You can't even drop it through a hole into a bucket. Other than that, I think they look good.

If you're really into DIY projects, I cooked up an article on Kevin's page a qhile back about restoring beatup coin doors. If you can find a set on ebay for under $20, grab a can of paint and have a look at my article.

An over/under coindoor has a built in top portion for inserting coins AND a bottom portion for a coin box. They have seperate locks and can be openned individually. They're very common on upright games. Here's an example.

http://www.happcontrols.com/coindoors/40003800.htm

Mine are pretty much exactly like that one except mine don't have the coin box (the big thing sticking out the back) installed into the bottom portion. So basically when you open the bottom door, you would see a hole rather than the inside of a metal box. You can't tell the difference when it's closed. It has 2 coin slots. Lighting it up would be the same as with any other coin door.

I have a few coin doors at home (all identical). I'd have to check their condition, but I hand picked them all from a guy going out of business so they should all be in really great shape.

I don't think mine are Happ, though. I think mine are Coinco. Doesn't really matter, though.

Oooohhh...  :-\

Well it'll fit. I've seen it done before. I won't lie, though. It might look kinda funny. I'm not gonna go ruining your cab to make a sale. That's my own personal opinion, though. It'll fit, though. I've seen it done to a Ms Pacman replica. It's whatever you want to do. I can take measurements when I get home if you're still interested.

I think the plugs in the coin slots are removeable.

Why would you want a fake coin door? Inserting a coin and hearing the sound it makes as it winds it way through the mech and crash lands in a bucket are all part of the genuine arcade experience. Why deny yourself that? Put a real coin door on your cab.
