Well, long story short I've bought my way into an arcade cabinet, as i don't have the wood working skills to do it.

Secondly, i've installed mame and put some roms on the computer and tried mamewah 1.61, but could not get it to generate the game list, so i can't use it.  I've tried reinstalling, i have directx,  and the system files installed, i'm running windows xp pro, i edited the mame.ini myself, it wouldnt' let me, so i used the ini file from jcrous' (i think that was how it was spelled) site, and  still couldn't let me, so i downloaded atomic fe and it works.  Anyone know a reason why mamewah wouldn't let me generate a game list when all of the paths were correct.

It's hard to say from this...but something must have been incorrect.  Things to check are the 'list_generation_method' (this varies depending on what version of MAME, merged romsets etc.), 'emulator_executable', 'commandline_format', 'rom_path' etc.

Also check \mamewah\mamewah.log and it should tell you what is wong...

yeah, it was late, i wasn't thinking to put all the info in.  i'm running the newest mame, and mamewah 1.61, and tried using the ini for mamewah 1.61 from jcrouse' site but i'll double check everything tonight, i didn't think to look in the log because it didn't really give me an error, it just didn't do it.  i'll check that out. thanks.

Usually if absolutely nothing happens when you hit '1' to generate the list it means that something is confured wrong.  That is probably stating the obvious but for example check your rom_path is valid (check for typos).  If that path doesn't exists Mamewah will just skip the list generation process.
