notebooks and emu Cabinets
« on: June 12, 2005, 02:39:20 pm »
Does anyone know if it is possible to connect a Notebook computer up to a JAMMA cab using the J-PAC/I-PAC interfaces?

I'm curious because I have an extra Laptop that is lying about that would fit perfectly in a cab I'm getting soon, and that would allow me to skip building an extra PC for emulation.

Any help is appreciated.

Quick answer.

NO.

Long answer, yes, as long as your notebook has a keyboard port and you are willing to purchase an expensive scan convertor.

A lot of notebooks have TV-out. You might be able to take advantage of that somehow?

In general though putting a notebook in a Mame cabinet is a waste of a good notebook. Especially since used notebooks outprice equivalent used PCs by about 500 percent.

Hmm. OK, thanks Paige.  I guess it's back to building a PC for it then. :D
