The short question:  Anyone know if the Wico rubber grommet microswich joysticks are identical to the Wico Leafs (except, obviously for the bottom base and actuator)?

I recently ordered 2 NOS rubber grommet micros and 1 had the wrong size actuator.  But I was taking them apart today, and was wondering if these joysticks were stock except for the bottom base?  Because I've got NOS handles, NOS rubber grommets, NOS top plates, wouldn't it be nice if I could scavenge some Wico Leafs off of ebay and only have to worry about getting the bottom plate in working condition?  This would be making lemonade out of lemons (Because I'm not totally thrilled with the 1 working joystick I do have).  Anyone know if this is possible?  I've been looking for nice Wico Leafs for months on Ebay and this would rule if I had most of the parts and could complete it this way.  Thanks!

  • Who the heck is that?
You could screw on a leaf-bottom, no problem.. but your square micro-actuator will be wrong if you don't get a proper round leaf-actuator from your donor stick.

Yes they are compatable. Just take the entire switch plate including the leaf switches and screw it right onto your base. Keep in mind that you'll have to use the actuator from the leaf switch doner stick as well.

Cool.  I figured I'd need an actuator too, but since it's just plastic, wouldn't they hold up pretty well as long as I got a stick with them included?  Or are these usually in rough shape that impacts performance?  Ponyboy's selling 1 NOS if these are gonna be an issue.  Thanks for the quick responses!

  • Awesome face!
Wico leaf actuator does not tend to wear at all.
