Opinions on button placement
« on: June 05, 2005, 10:48:05 am »
So Ive decided to add some control buttons to my machine.  Instead of using regular game buttons Im just using small micro buttons like these

They will be recessed into the wood so they cannot be accidentially pressed.  Im still debating placement though.  The photo below shows the options, either on the CP Top or on the front of the CP base.  Just not sure which I like best so far.  If I put them on the top I may evenually be doing a laminate overlay of the uncovered area and I would probably cut a little "cover" so the buttons would not be visible unless the cover was removed.

I have some of those buttons.  I put them on the side of my CP (up close to the rest of the cab) instead of the top or front.  Up front you might bump into them.  On top (I think) they look too tiny/odd.   On the side, they're 'hidden' and I an nonchalantly insert coins, exit or pause.

No risk of bumping them on the front as they will be recessed into the panel so you cant hit them accidentially.  The panel is just too wide to put them on the side and be able to comfortably reach them.

Have you ever thought of these buttons? As you can see in the picture they are protected against accidently pushing. Might be an interesting option, especially to keep the arcade look! :)

Sorry, somehow my auto-notification turned off!

Have seen them on this page (also available in different colors): http://www.arcadeshop.de/index.php?cPath=24_72&sort=2a&page=2

This shop is located in germany, but I guess you may find them in your country as well. :)
