Pachislo Video Arcade _ what are they?
« on: June 04, 2005, 01:12:18 pm »
I've seen a couple on ebay. How do you play them? From what i've seen, all you do is try to get all the reels to stop on the same picture. Are they really that boring?

I have a pachislo that I won at a local auction called "Kung-Fu Lady". It's considered to be a "skill stop" machine, so yes, you control when each individual reel stops (by pushing a button that corresponds to each reel). A bit more amusing than a standard slot, and the sound effects and music are great!

No, there pretty fun.

They are just like slot machines, excetpt your winnings are based on your skill, or that's what they want you to think.

I have one called "snowky".

It used to work until a ceramic resistor burned on the power supply board, It's an easy fix but I haven't ben to a Radio Shack to get the part.

The one i'm looking at is a skill shot too. It has an lcd screen which is animated throughout play. it looks nice. But doesnt the replay factor wear off quick?

Cheers guys. I've bid for one. But they seems to be going for quite alot. Much more than I would like to pay. I'll keep my eye out for a bargain though

If you have trouble getting one online, you could always wait for a local super auction. That's where I got mine. Just be knowlegable when you go. For example, I bought mine for $85, but didn't check the insides before. It was missing the coin hopper bucket, which I had to track down over the internet later.

Pretty much all versions of slot machines put me to sleep. I guess I'm just not a gambler.

Note that in the US, pachislos are illegal in many states if they're newer than 25 years old.  In California they are completely illegal.

Also as far as I know, it's illegal to sell or own slots in california, except over internet sales (shipping only, no pickuup allowed)

What's even funnier, is right inside his item description he has:

Quote
IF YOU RESIDE IN CALIFORNIA, NEW MEXICO,WASHINGTON STATE, COLORADO, OR OREGON PLEASE DO NOT BID ON THIS ITEM. BY STATE LAW WE CANNOT SHIP OR SELL WITHIN THESE STATES.
This isn't necessarily impossible; I'm sure Pachislos pass through California in shipping all the time.  The law probably states that they are illegal to operate in California.  I know I've seen many non-operational slots in people's homes in CA...
