Do you bother with keychains?
« on: May 31, 2005, 10:18:28 pm »
I was wondering how many other collectors make or buy custom keychains for their machines? Me, for every machine I own, I buy a keychain from these guys: www.ArcadeTees.com

They don't have Radical Radial, or Vindicators, which are the two dedicateds I have at the moment.

That, and I still need locks for the keys to work in, so I guess I should work on that first, shouldn't I?

They're decent keychains, but you could make one for cheaper than that probably. They look like they're using the standard flip-open DIY keychain cases that you can pick up 10 for a dollar at a dollar store. Then just print up whatever artwork you want, put it inside, and you've got the exact same thing.

I don't have any of them myself, but they are cool. I've thought about buying them in the past. Too bad they don't have Tempest or Crystal Castles.  :(

That's where I got my Tempest keychain.  Check the best sellers list on the right hand side.

Good idea, though they have very few of the games I have, and it would be much cheaper to make oneself.

Something like these.

Bah, it figures I was blind and missed them. Now that I finally got a new color cartridge for my printer, I may try my hand at making my own. Do they turn out good using plain printer paper?

The picture is so small, and the acrylic has enough glare, that I bet it would be just fine.

Sweet. Sounds like I'll be heading to the local dollar store soon. I'd really like a keychain for my MK2 and soon I will have one. Is it hard to print both sides of the flyer on one sheet of paper? I could always print them separate, but figured I'd ask.

You could print them on 2 pieces of paper.

Then you'd want to print it on something thick enough that it wasn't translucent once printed on, the way regular paper becomes when you print a color image on it.

You'd want 2 sheets, anyways. That paper won't print 2-sided properly, and you'll want the thickness that 2 sheets provides. This goes doubly if you're using plain ol' printer paper.

Better yet, print your front and back image side by side then cut it out and fold in half.

SAVE THE TREES!  8)
If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen

Anyone know where to find these things for cheap? Only place I found that had them was charging like $24 for a package. That's robbery for cheap plastic is little 2-cent keyrings.

I've done it both ways: bought a "keychain kit" that had everything you need (including software) and also bought from ArcadeTees. I'm not above paying a "lazy fee" for something like this.  ;)

I've got keychains for all my machines (makes it easier to figure out what key is for what machine, although I usually just leave the keys in unless I've got small kids coming over  :-\)
