Happs trackball light keeps going off
« on: May 31, 2005, 11:02:31 am »
Hello,
I just started working on my first cab. I setup the CP with a Happs 3" trackball with light. I put on the female .187 connectors but the connectors on the light are smaller than the usual .187 so they are not a tight fit but are on and not falling off. The light keeps going out, so I decided to solder the ends on and that seemed to work but the light went out again. I just checked the lamp and it is dead, the coil has been broken on the light inside the bulb.
Are these things that fragile? Have you guys had light problems with the trackballs? Maybe it is just me and I need to try another lamp. I need to come up with a solution before mounting the CP.
Thanks for any help.

I think you're using the wrong type of bulbs...

If your pulling +5v from your power supply, you should be using #555

Would it be better to use a LED?

Hello there...

Since you mentioned the buttons and the lights...

I purchased the http://www.happcontrols.com/pushbuttons/954002xxxxz.htm from happs....

I want to know if its possible to use 5v lights instead of 12v on there?

Yep... LEDs are better, but thete more expensive.

My source has the #161 bulbs for $2.00 a box of 10 I think.
