Joystick Recommendations - Williams Multigame

I'm working on a Joust to Williams Multigame conversion (non-Jamma). 

What joystick is 'best' for a Williams Multigame machine?  I've read various threads and reviewed websites, but can't seem to find a consensus.  Obviously, the joystick must support 8-way for Robotron, etc.  but still be reasonable in 2-way for Joust, Defender and Stargate.

I was thinking about the Perfect 360?  Is that overkill?  Are there issues in getting power to them in a non-Jamma cab?  Given that the cost of my restoration is already high, due to the poor condition of the cab, I am willing to spend the money on the 360s if they are worth it.

In addition, I originally thought I'd try to track down the traditional Robotron red balltops.  I'm now thinking of spending the extra cash and getting the SlikStik red aluminium balltops on their stainless steel shafts - a modern retro look.  Any thoughts?

Agreed. If you have any 4-way game you plan on playing this solution won't work at all, but for just 8way and 2way games this'll feel as authnetic is it gets. Flip through the Buy/Sell/Trade section. I think I recently saw a guy there selling some new ones.

They're not cheap since the demand isn't so high, but they're still cheaper than a 360. You can probably pick 'em up for $20 each.

Thanks.  As a reminder, all the games in this multigame are either 2-way (Joust, Defender, Stargate) or 8-way (Robotron, Bubbles, Splat).

Yes, I've seen a number of 8-way Wico styles, rarely leafswitches.  It also seems that any new or third partyl Wico-clones w/leafswitches are not as well liked as the orginal Wicos.

You can buy NEW OLD STOCK 4-way Wico Leafswitch joysticks on Ebay from a seller called NICADE. 

There are at least a couple of members on this board who have 8 way Wico bases.  You can easily transfer the new Grommet, spring, actuator, switches, and Red balltop handles over to the 8-way bases.

Put a WTB in the Buy/Sell/Trade column and see how much they would sell them for.  You only need two, so it shouldn't be too terribly expensive.

Perfect 360 with Wico handles on it feels identical to a Wico leaf, and performs better, that is my reccomendation.
