mamemarquees CPO question
« on: May 25, 2005, 01:49:38 pm »
I've done some searching and not found this specific answer regarding the polycarbonate coated control panel overlays from mamemarquees.com.

Just how thick are they? I have a 5/8" panel to which I am adding a 1/8" sheet of lexan. Under the lexan I want the control panel overlay, and I'm curious how thick the whole thing will be when that is done.

Thickness, at the most is between 1/16 and 1/32 of an inch. It's really like a very THICK high quality poster.  I didn't put lexan over mine simply because I was satisfied with the quality of the coating and felt it wasn't necessary.

The lip around the edge made by the t-molding is noticeable, but certainly not a neusance and not something that's going to come loose or cause a problem.

I e-mailed Scott at Mame Marquees that very question a few weeks ago:

"Pretty thin, around 11mils which is roughly 1/75th of an inch."

11 mils is .011" thick.

It's not intended to be used under lexan.  The colors are not that bright and not nearly as good as the colors for their sideart.  I bought a set from them and never used the cpo because the color was so dull.  I have heard he will print it differently if it is intended to be under lexan AND I have heard that it looks great.  Be sure you talk to scott about it.

********IMPORTANT EDIT**************

It appears I got in under the old system and his CPO's are different now.
Check out the offer two posts down!!!  I should also restate how unbelievable my side art looks.

Interesting. I guess it's a good thing I will be cutting my lexan prior to ordering then. That way if I end up ruining my Lexan I can get the standard CPO, otherwise I'll get the brighter material.

He really needs to beef up his FAQ. ;D

Monkey, not sure when you ordered, but I have changed my polycarbinate laminate recently and it is much brighter.

Monkey, not sure when you ordered, but I have changed my polycarbinate laminate recently and it is much brighter.  I would be happy to re-print it for you?
