« on: May 24, 2005, 05:39:36 pm »
Hi all...

First off... I'm a newb to the boards (been lurkin' for a week or so).

I have been wanting to build a Mame machine for a few years, and have just recently gotten permission from the wife/boss :)

I'm not too far from Terre Haute.  I'm in Bloomington.  Welcome to the boards. Unfortunately, I don't have a machine you can look at.  I've done a cardboard control panel prototype, but that's it.  Stil tweeking my design, saving money and honing my woodworking skills.

You might want to contact http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?action=profile;u=4081.  He's in Bloomfield. I think he might be much further along than I am.

Good luck!

Hey, thx jc :)  I'll keep that in mind.  My wifes grandmother lives in Bloomington, so we go there on occasion.. Plus whenever the Reverend Horton Heat plays at the Bluebird, we go as well.

Welcome aboard.  More peeps from Indiana.  Woot!

Now off of my fanboy crate.  I'm the gent in Bloomfield.  Alas, I am not too far into the process either but have a good detailed understanding of all parts.  I am in the process of having some artwork put together which will act as a focal point for my project.  If you wanna chat about the hobby or idea get a hold of me.  All my contact info is on the sidebar.  Have fun!

I pass by Terre Haute about once a month on my way to Evansville from Indy.  My cab's not finished, yet, but I'm not hauling it back and forth, either  :)  My little CR-V wouldn't be able to manage it  :)

Glad to see so many folks from Indiana  :)

Well, I've got a skewed view on I-69..  My family lives near Evansville, and my wife's family lives in Ft. Wayne.  We both went to college at the University of Evansville.  At the time, would've given my left kidney for a straight shot up to Ft. Wayne  :)

I _WANT_ I-69 to happen, just because it would make my trip a lot easier.  For those who say it won't cut much time off the trip, they obviously don't drive 41 enough  :)  I do like the proposed route, for my purposes  :)

As for economic impact, environmental impact, etc..  I don't have enough of the facts/opinions to really say what I think..

Although, I think it's interesting how many people get up in arms about it.  My grandfather seems to think it would make the most since for 69 to go through Dale..  Yeah..  THAT'S gonna happen  :)

Hyper, I am in Indy so if you are ever heading this way lemme know.  My first cabinet is progressing and should be done within a week or so (slight problem with my I-Pac that Andy at Ultimarc is helping me with).

Hoopz, what kind of cab are you building?  And whereabouts in Indy?  (I'm on the NorthEast side, in Lawrence township...)

My UAII cab just needs painted..  *sigh*  And I just need time.

Look at all the Hoosiers coming out of the woodwork....

Hyper, the 7th is cool.  I may be getting a replacement I-Pac 4 but should have it by then.

jfunk, I am on the Southside right next to Perry Meridian HS.  Lived in Lawrence for awhile but that was in the 80's....

gcbrowni, where are you at?

My cabinet is based off Saint's book with some 6 year old input for colors of everything!  Quite interesting.

gcbrowni, I read your post about your woes.... man can I relate to that one!  From spending 6 months on the avs forum to build my htpc to going to good ol' wally world.

LOL, I live in bluffton IN. lol.  about 30 minutes south of fort wayne hehe
GO HOOSIERS haha.

I just got done modding another old SNES CHAMPION JOYSTICK to use a microsoft gamepad guts for use with MAME.   Man, those champion arcade sticks are sure hard to come by.

I didn't realize there were so many people from indiana on here. Its been a while since i have really visited the boards.   I think its funny how many people keep asking the same questions OVER AND OVER lol and then they say " i did a search for (xyz) and didn't find anything, but then i do the same search and there are TONS of stuff ROFL.   Lazy people lol. Its all good though, thats the one great thing about this board that i loved and that is as long are your not a total (male organ lol) people are very helpful here :)
Thanks to all those who have helped me in the past *wink* :D

Groovy~

I'm downtown, near Tech high school in Woodruff Place.

I've just about gutted my old 'Tale of Woe' cab. I'll put the second coat of black on my new UA2 tonight, with the third coat tomorrow night. Monitor bezel should be done on Saturday. I've got a modular CP (with not a lot of modules yet ...) and a caseless AMD 2600 all working with an IPAC4. I've got a couple of X-Gaming joys and two T-Stiks right now. I'm looking at moving to some 49's or 360's soon.

That's a really cool part of the City.  I love the big boulevard and ann the large old homes.  A girl I went to high school with lives in that area.  Maybe you know her? Her maiden name was Kristen Bevington. I'm not sure what her married name is.
