Who has the Nicest Tron Stick??
« on: May 22, 2005, 12:08:09 pm »
I've been working with Specialty Plastics on some new projects and he mentioned that his Tron reproductions have stopped because his mold is shot.  He is looking for someone with a pristine shape Tron handle so that he may make a new mold.

He is offering a free reproduction Tron handle to anyone that would lend him their tron stick to make a mold.  Your joystick will not be harmed.  He is looking for  a stick without scuffs or scratches.

Let us know!

Arent the tron handles identical to the normal black xenophobe/happ replacement handles?

Either way, I have a very nice pair of tron handles I can loan him, or a new set of the black handles.

Let me know.

Thanks!  With 1Ups Tron shafts and the upcoming LED controllers, this would be a great way to have a custom colored Translucent Tron stick.  He is also working on some UV reactive translucent buttons.  Woo Hoo.

Anyone have any updates on anybody making a repro handle?  I bid on a Tron Joystick on eBay the other day - it ended up going for $ 103, which was about $ 75 above my target price.

I have a decent Gorf stick that I probably will convert and add the thumb switch to, but there's something about that nice translucent blue handle that I really crave...

Rohan has some sticks that look absolutely brand new, I was stunned when I saw them in person. I doubt he'd be wlling to loan them out, though.

I was watching the same stick ... and all I want is the handle as well ... somebody help us ... please ...

FWIW, RetroJames (formerly 1HookedSpaceCadet) just put a sweet CP with a black stick up on eBay:

Don't know how I missed this one.  I have a tron joystick handle I bought off of Peter Hirschberg about a year ago.  It has  very minor crack in  one of the threads of the top screw socket...wouldn't even know it if Peter hadn't pointed it out.  Otherwise it is clean and perfect.  I'd be happy to offer mine up for the molding.

BTW, I noticed Specialty Plastics home page isn't working.  The original post from AmericanDemon was clear back in May.  Any word on if he ever got a new mold made and is he making handles again?

I've never been able to get him to respond to any e-mails, so I'm assuming he isn't...  If someone wants to prove me wrong, I'd be happy to hear it.

If anyone's actually still in touch with him, wouldn't the aforementioned pristine Specialty Plastics handle work as long as it was made before the old mold went south?
