TECH: Jungle Hunt problem
« on: May 19, 2005, 02:31:06 am »
Hey, I have this Jungle Hunt game. One of the fuses on the power board (F2) looks like the fuse holders once broke off and someone re-soldered them on. The board around that fuse looks burnt, and when i tried to pop the fuse out the fuse holders broke right off. So, I guess I need to re-attach those.

Also, there are 4 LED's on the board. all but LED 1 light up. I am hoping that LED1 isn't lighting because of that fuse problem, and If I repair it the game will work once again.

Right now the monitor comes on (just blank gray screen) and nothing is happening other than that.

Anyone offer advice?  ???

Thanks.

Fix the fuse and let us know what happens.

OK, you knew the threat of MAMEing a classic would get a response, didn't you?

The usual advice is this:

1. Check all connections and make sure they are snug, and connected properly.

2. REPLACE those fuse holders. Don't just re-solder them. When something is damaged, it's best to replace with new. (Radio shack sells a few different kinds of fuse holders).

3. Test the fuses to make sure they are still good. Sometimes a visual inspection isn't enough.

4. Measure voltages. Get a cheap digital multimeter ($15) and measure all voltage outputs to make sure they are correct.

You can then go from there....

Good Advice. Always replace broken fuse holders. I can't count how many Pac-Man, and Ms machines I've fixed just by replacing those cheap broken holders.

Oh, i have a multimeter. So far everything looks ok, except for that damned fuse. My concern is the burnt area around that. I could buy the conversion kit from arcadeshop for $40 if i have to.

I'll go buy a soldering gun and new fuse holder and post results here. keep fingers crossed!  ::)

do you have more than one RS in town?

What you probably want is this part: http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&category%5Fname=CTLG%5F011%5F004%5F004%5F000&product%5Fid=270%2D742

actially what i need are a pair of these to solder into the board:
http://www.newark.com/product-details/text/catalog/9254.html

but the board is all burnt and i tried to resolder the broken ones on, and it didn't work. so i don't know
