my new used candy cab

I need to move a candy cab and all I have right now is a little cargo van.
Is it OK to transport a candy cab on its back?

Isn't a candy cab really short?  You could stand it up in most cargo vans, IIRC.

I would take the monitor out and secure it separately in a well packed box, then there would be pretty much no reason to worry.

Don't mess up that candy monitor!

If you remove the monitor and leave off the back panel. It should be fine.
(It sticks out.)


With the monitor out, it's VERY easy to transport and move around.

Against all advice and my own better judgement, I've transported more than one machine on its back or side on multiple occassions. This was either due to having nothing to tie it down with or to having limited vertical space.

I've never had one mess up on because of it. That being said, I still don't do it anymore.

Candy cabinets ARE NOT designed to be laid on their backs like normal cabinets are.

Are you SURE you can't stand it up, they are only like 4 and a half feet tall.

If you have to lay it down I vote to lay it on its side.

i bought the machine used, the guy didn't have the keys, i couldn't figure out any way to get the monitor out..
it came home on it's back

Ive got a couple of panels off now and there is a rod on one side like what's used to hold up the hood of a car
I suppose I should be able to open the front and easily rotate the monitor but I've never had one of these and I don't know how

looks like the monitor is 15 ~ 31.5KHZ
the tube is Samsung A51KQJ63X
should I be able to connect directly to a regular VGA card?
right now it's connected to a JAMMA connector but someone did a lousy soldering job on it and it's going to have to be redone anyway

I've removed the locks from the back panel, the large front panel, and the coin mech door.
I've got no clue how I'm going to get the coin box one.
There's like a zillion screws and things I'd have to remove from the inside
Should I just drill?

Drill it, lock is going to have to be replaced anyway. And the coin enclosure will catch all the metal shavings.

They are OPTIONS to change in
SERVICE S/W and KEY.

Any idea what that means?

QUESTION:

Every time I've tried to drill a lock, it just mostly scratches the lock up and doesn't even come close to drilling it out.  Am I doing something wrong, maybe there is a certain bit you would use for metal, or does my wussy cordless drill just suck?

Whew.. finally did it!




Now I can't decide what to do with it.
I've already got my big Mortal Kombat II cab I'm working on for horizontal.
I was thinking about making a one player vertical cab out of this but I don't think a spinner or trackball would fit.
At least not the trackball I have now anyway.

My experience has led me to always drill the coin box lock FIRST.
That is because I've found the keys to the OTHER locks inside the coin door on many occasions.
Alot of the ops used to set all their coin boxes to one key, and then leave the other keys inside the machine for when they had to actually service them.

If you find the keys AFTER you drill the other locks out, it's a real bummer because they are obviously useless at that point.

I just unbolted them from behind
so now I'll just have to put them all back on again either way
