I guess we couldn't complain because they're only a dollar, but those are some seriously dirty, beat-up old cabs.

Not really... those cocktail cabs are well worth it.

I think this may be one of the reasons that you had so much trouble finding a cabinet and then had to pay so much for the one you found.

That Neo Geo is just begging to be MAMEd and cost $299 less than the shell you bought ...

OK add $15 for a coin door ... and time and gas ... still a pretty decent deal for anyone with a need within a reasonable radius.

They all look reasonably solid to me ... if I were within a couple of hours drive, I would pick up all three.

Cheers.

Yep, but I got a working monitor, plexi, marquee lighting, smoked monitor glass, internal power supply, and working coin mechs thrown in for free, so I basically got my cab for free and in MUCH better condition than these.  :D

What a deal!!   :P

Your original post said that the monitor with the cab was going to cost you $500 -- did you get a better deal ?

In any event, you missed the point ... those $1 machines, which you mocked, are in excellent shape for the price and well worth the $1 asking price.

I'm glad that you like your cabinet, but you obviously don't know the relative value of things.

For what you paid, you should have gotten a fully functional machine.

And for some unknown reason, you complain about what is clearly a good deal.

Cheers.

The original price was $300 cdn for a stripped cab, but then he threw in all that stuff for the same price because he promised the cab to me by a certain date but couldn't completely strip it by then.

Of course I could have gotten a cheaper price, but I didn't feel like scouring eBay, craigslist, classifieds, here, for months on end until I found something cheap that wouldn't cost an arm and a leg to ship to Canada.

And it's a hell of a lot cheaper than the do-it-yourself cab kits on the net that include nothing but the wood, so I still feel  I came out in the green.

My cab = 300 + 40 to refinish= $340 cdn/$260 us
UAII Cab Kit = $459 us
SlikStik Cab = $1000 us

Ack ... that's what I get for having two discussions in a single thread ...   :-[

You may recall that when you first asked about cabinets in Western Canada that I mentionned a guy in Edmonton who sometimes gave them away.

Well, he does and he sure doesn't need the unappreciative noob attitude that you threw ... particularly since he browses these forums.

Maybe next time he'll just throw them in the dumpster ... it would be less trouble for him.,

Please be polite about people GIVING THINGS AWAY.

Cheers.

Jesus, I wasn't complaining. If you read it more carefully I'm saying, yes, they're are beat-up cabs, but you CAN'T complain because they're so cheap.

Get off your friggin' high-horse already.

Yeah ... it does seem like I took it rather personally ... didn't mean to be that harsh. Sorry.

I would buy all 3 of those cocktails if they were local and I don't even have a use for them right now.
