Don't know too much about this but on most TV's they degauss on every power down, hence the crackling noise.

Most TV sets have a degause coil built in so each time you power up it should degause. in the case of particuarly strong magnetic fields this may not be enough to cklear up the discoluration and you may need to dcegause manually with a degause wand.

You can buy one from Happs I think, but they aren;t cheap.

;)  Check out Sam Goldwasser's TV Info. Lot's more info than you will want to know, but right to the point.

www.mcmelectronics.com sells a much higher quality degaussing coil for about $30.  I used both it and the smaller one like Happ sells, and the larger one is well worth the cost.

To use, turn on the monitor then turn on the coil and move it over the entire front of the monitor for a few seconds, then move back away from the monitor while moving the coil in large circles.  Once it stops affecting (distorting) the screen, turn it sideways and turn it off.

Does it REALLY work? ???

I got this black spot on the lower right side of my screen while moving the cab to fix a computer problem inside and next time a turn it on...BOOM....the lower right side is little dark.not noticable when played(only in white screen) but i bought brand new and want things to be NICE. :-\

Which should i get for a 25" monitor? ???

90% of the time, the large coil will do the job.  If it's a bad purity problem, you may need a TV tech to adjust it.

Try turning the cabinet 90 degrees and see what happens.  Occasionally some displays just don't like facing in a certain direction.

Make sure there are no magnets near that corner of the screen (speakers, fans, coils, power supplies, etc.)
