defender problems

hey guys i just bought an old defender cab for 30 bucks at a yard sale. but when i turn it on i here some sound, and the screen is scrambled.i cant see anything burnt or broken inside the cab.please help.

If you have display and good sound, maybe it's the RAM or bit rot on the board's EEPROMs.. just a guess, which I'm probably not qualified to make.. :P

You could probably try picking up a new game PCB.. I wouldn't guess this would be too expensive (and the cab was only $30)..

But (definitely) don't take my word.. wait and see if someone more knowledgeable replies first.

btw, the joystick by itself is going for 30 bucks on EBay these days!

I would make a guess its the monitor myself..
does it seem to boot, and play, but you cant see it?  (start mame at the same point that you start the cabinet... hit the buttons to get it going, and see if you can add coins and play even without seeing everything.

And you can get the pcbs around.  they come up on ebay all the time.
