optipac problem
« on: May 10, 2005, 02:32:23 pm »
I have the ipac- ps2 and optipac -serial combo..

I have a question regarding the optipac though...

It seems that the mouse operation in windows seems to act strangely.  I have tried with both win98se and xpsp2 with the same results to give you an idea.

It seems that the mouse only works in the up and down direction.  If I remove the ipac programming software and reboot the machine it goes back to standard operation and works fine in all directions.

Also, some times after reboot the trackball will only slightly work with numerous "spins" able to only go about a quarter of an inch on the screen in any direction, and the cursor shakes back and forth.

I have the opti drawing power from the ipac, and that is a ps2 connection.

any help appreciated

Not a great deal of help I know but why not just hook it up via USB?.

Should resolve any problems or conflicts and the cost of the cable isn't going to break the bank.
I didn't touch it....honest!

wish I could......its the serial version of optipac......

new info....

noticed that while checking voltage to the board, that some times when the mouse is not working the inputs for the trackball are not registering voltage..ie 5 v

The x axis does, but it seems to randomly have voltage running through it....is this normal?  One minute it wont register on the multimeter, then the next it does...

could I just run 5 v to all the inputs on the board manually?  Will it hurt anything?- seems like the board pushes (suppossed to anyway) 5 v to all inputs....
