Excellent Dealer in Western Canada!
« on: May 05, 2005, 03:40:59 am »
In an earlier thread where I was looking for leads on cabs in Canada, Mamezilla pointed me in the direction of a company called Canadian Coin Machine in Burnaby, BC.

After visiting their warehouse today and working out a deal, I wanted to put in a good word for them here on the forums. They have an absolutely HUGE selection of arcade cabs in their warehouse; stuff stacked up to the very high ceiling. They must have had at least 500 cabs of all shapes and sizes from all decades right there, all for sale. There stuff was generally very good quality as well.

I managed to pick up a very good quality Mortal Kombat II cab(just the wood) with an original coin door/mechs for only $300 cdn. And if I wanted the monitor, an older WG 27", the price only went up to $500. All I need to do is touch up the paint in some spots and replace the T-Molding and it would look like new! While I was there, I also saw other pending orders for individuals that were really well priced too, i.e. a complete, flawless NFL Blitz machine for $800. They also informally deal in parts, so if you need an original part from an older machine, they'll sell it to you if they have that machine on hand.

So basically, if your in western Canada or even Washington State, this is an awesome company to deal with. Their website is a bit sparse, but they carry a lot more than they advertise. Their main rep is a man by the name of Ian Chesterton, who was a huge help while I was there, and really gave me the run of the place rather than trying to fob me off with some random cab like many companies will.

Yeah ... I'm feeling pretty darned good about my C$300 Neo Geo and C$325 Surf Planet, both fully working with bright, clear monitors in nice shape.

Having said that, however, I am not up to speed on cabinet availability and prices on the West Coast. I was talking to a dealer from Calgary at the last Starburst auction and he was paying the same prices as the rest of us and then had to ship them out west.

Cheers.

Vancouver's a big city. I'm sure there are lots of resources for cabs if you look in the right places and have a little patience. I didn't want to say anything, because JJ sounds very happy about his experience. Either that, or he is actually affiliated with this business and is doing a little PR for them.

That said... $300 for an empty box is alot. Sorry Jerk. (I'm not insulting him!--His name is Joystick Jerk!)  :D

I paid $300 for my complete startup Virtua Racing cab.

If I remember correctly, wasn't someone in the Seattle area selling cabs/machines cheap awhile ago?

Yeah, normally $300 is high for an empty cab, but I mentioned it because it was an extremely good quality cab, and it's certainly cheaper than any cab-kits you buy on the internet.(plus that was the canadian price which is only $240 american).

I also should have mentioned the other bits that it came with, such as the smoked monitor glass, flawless marquee plexi, and power supply.

This is also the first major distributor I've found on the west coast that has a really huge amount of stock. If anyone else can point me in the direction of cheaper dealers in Western Canada, it'd be appreciated.

Either that, or he is actually affiliated with this business and is doing a little PR for them.

Nah, I'd never schill for a company that I didn't work for.
