Rewiring Cheapie Speakers into my Cab Speakers?

Hey all... when I had my showcase cab delivered, I had these speakers
mounted in the cabinet.

On my PC, I have a cheap set of 29.99 3-piece speakers (2 speakers, 1 sub)

One of the speakers (of the 29.99 set) has a volume knob on it.

Would you think I am able to open up the speakers, and re-wire them into the exsiting speakers that are in the cabinet?

I'm guessing those are better.

What do I need to know, or what should I look out for if I try?

I haven't done alot with speakers before....

You probably could but it isn't a tremendously good idea. Chances are the speakers in that cab are capable of handling much higher RMS power than your amp puts out. If you drive them with the little amp that comes in cheap speakers then that amp is going to have to work very hard and will probably be prone to overheating.

To know for sure, we need to know the RMS rating of the amp (and at what impedence that rating is quoted), the power handling rating of the speakers and the impedence of the speakers.

On the other hand if you try it and it works thats great, if the amp melts into a puddle then all you've lost is a set of cheapie speakers.

I'm taking a chance and hooking them up...
I'm noticing more 'hiss' when the sound plays on these...

And when I hook the wires into my old speakers.. i notice it too now.

If I'm not mistaken... this could be due to the cheap on-board
sound card....  I think I picked up a PCI sound card
for another computer because of this same reason....

Does that sound right?

Yep. Onboard cards ar generally pretty noisy, especially on chipsets with older motherboards. Nforce 2 boards were really the first to offer onboard sound that was even marginally acceptable. Some people will tell you different but I'm picky about sound. Even a cheap PCI sound card will give you much better quality usually.
