WTB: DDR Pad (Metal)
« on: May 02, 2005, 07:50:37 pm »
Anyone know of any good deals around here for a DDR (Metal) pad?

I have epsxe going and want to get a pad hooked up.

I also have a USB ActLabs TV Gun I want to get rid of.
(Doesnt work on my TV, so I've been told)

I did try it on my Living Room TV and it worked just fine...
...so I will ask you... "Deal, or No Deal?"

With eBay, you can get one shipped for about 75 bucks...2 runs you about 150, which is still cheaper than builidng 2 of your own according to DDR Homepad, so i guess ebay is a good start.

Dont really know.. Im not sure how much they are going for now a days.

Maybe I'll just watch ebay for a few days and see what they
go for there...

Or... maybe have a 'silent auction'... highest bidder over a certain
price to my email by a certain date would get it...?
Has anyone done that?  Sounds like a neat idea... ;)

I purchased 2 PS2 Madcatz dance pads (http://www.madcatz.com/MadCatz/product_details.jsp?product_id=8240)

And use them with a PS2/USB adapter I bought a few years ago and it works fine.  But if your a good dancer and regularly dance 5+ songs.  Then I would purchase a set of metal pads. As the cheapie ones slide around alot during fast songs.

If you have the means and skillset, build your own! You'll end up with much better quality, plus the satisfaction of building your own.

DDRFreak.com    check out the forums for reviews on every pad out there. I don't know how most of the metal pads fair but I've had nothing but good times on the RedOctane Ignition softpads.

Anyone actually have one of the $9.99 eBay metal pads?  I'm wondering how they compare with the RedOctane metal pads.

$60 shipped seems a good deal, but if the difference in quality is noticable, I'd just as soon wait a month and see if the guys who were selling the RedOctane pads at A-Kon last year are there again this year...  They had them down to $100 (maybe less) by Sunday at the end of the convention.  Looks like the new model metal pad from them has built-in USB as well...

The 9.99 pads have gotten fairly favorable reviews, theyre the TX-1000, which someone in here recommended for those on a semi-tight budget, some ppl have issues, others dont

If the adapter and the cheapie pad works fine with epsxe and DDR,
I'm going to order one (or two, if they cut me a deal on shipping)
of the steel 9.99 pads.

I've noticed some are something like a v10, 'newer'(?) model with
only 4 screws?

I'm wondering which version is sturdier... the version w/lots of screws, or
4.

The one w/4 screws looks nicer... but its all about functionality, right?

Most of those dealers refuse to cut deals on shipping....looks like thats how they keep the prices down  ;)
