MS Sidewinder Gameport (Non-USB)
« on: November 26, 2002, 02:22:54 pm »
Anybody have one hacked they want to get rid of?  Anyone have one that isn't hacked that they WILL hack and sell to me?

Mine didn't work out so well, checking out other options before I *try* and redo it.

My soldering sucks ...  Thanks.

PS - Only have the stick and 7 buttons total, no need to do the whole thing.

well..does it have to be gameport/sidewinder?

I can do any usb pad which has 14+ inputs and works like plug and play.
ther is an eb games 2 minutes from my house(Yes..i live in a place where you have everything around you) so I can go grab it for ya...

$25 for it..professional hacked(the pad alone cost $15 and my work is $10 which should take atleast 1 hour to complete).

Email if interested ::).

Well, my soldering is horrible.  What I have ended up with is in ANY game, a combination of stick input and buttons will result in the game booting me out to Gamelauncher as if I hit ESC.  I have a button programmed to do just that as well, if that helps at all ...

It is always different, for instance, I can play for 5 minutes and then suddenly I hit left stick and b button and out I go.  Try another game and it will happen again when I just go stick down for example.  No rhyme or reason to it ...

As mentioned my soldering is not good, so there could be a problem there.  As well, I just took one wire off one of the grounds and stripped it way down and have twisted ALL the grounds of everything onto that one wire.

Dunno, I have been unsoldering the ones that look really bad and doing them again, but still keeps happening.

And for Snaaake - I am running pur DOS, it is just for a bartop I made for a couple hundred bucks, so no USB support.  Thanks though.

Appreciate the ideas guys ...

I have six brand new Sidewinders, so I could hack one for you.  I bought seven of these, but after hacking one, I kind of lost interest in doing the rest of them, and they've just been sitting for about a year.  How about $25 + shipping?  I've done several Gravis pads and a couple of keyboards also.  Let me know if you're interested.

Interested ...  I just tried to fix mine again last night but I think I have officially fried the thing.  I had it smoking like the Marlboro Man ...

Send me an email to brent.steph@sympatico.ca outlining how long it will take, how you would accept payment and any other details ...  Thanks!

You wanted the USB ones, right?  Just kidding.  Yes, they are the gameport versions.  Actually, I just finished testing it in Windows and it works perfectly.  You said you only needed 11 inputs, so I did a,b,c,x,y,z,bl,br, and each direction for a total of 12.  I crimped on quick connects for testing purposes, but you might need to extend some wires for your particular setup.  Paypal or money order would be fine.  I'll send you an email with my name and Paypal address.  Boy that turkey was great.
