Where to get volcano buttons
« on: April 26, 2005, 05:10:41 pm »
What kind of light/button is used for the atari volcano buttons. I know that the cones are available at GameCab and specialty plastic, but I haven't seen the buttons themselves available anywhere?

Thanks!
-james

I saw these on ebay the other day.

Is this what you are looking for?

GameCab lists a recomended source of switches for their cones.

Yea, the buttons aren't made anymore - so you have to find them on newsgroups or ebay.  Notice that the alternate solution mentioned in the link above does not include the LED or lens.

One way to find volcano buttons is to look for complete control panels on ebay that happen to have the buttons, then ask the seller if they would be willing to drop some of the shipping price by just sending the buttons without the panel.

I got lucky by finding some that were listed on ebay as 'arcade buttons', so a lot of people just passed them by without checking out the picture.

Maybe I'm misreading something, but I went to www.newark.com (gamecabs reccomendation) and punched in the part number, which takes you to this page:
http://www.newark.com/NewarkWebCommerce/newark/en_US/endecaSearch/partDetail.jsp?SKU=95F7145&N=4

Then I clicked on the catalog page entry for it.

I just scored 2 (lit with cones) for $9 by doing this. I was the only bidder.   :D
