Sanwa translucent microswitch buttons !
« on: April 24, 2005, 11:55:46 pm »
http://www.sanwa-d.co.jp/p_ilumb7.htm

Do these buttons look cool or what ! Does anyone think we could talk Andy Warne into stocking these ? Andy does buy from Sanwa directly doesn't he ? Man, we really need to find someone like Andy or Randy to start importing all the cool joysticks, buttons and other goodies from companies like Sanwa,Seimitsu and Bao Lian. There's so much cool stuff thats made over seas and we don't have any cost effective way to access this stuff :(. We really need a U.S. distributor for this stuff. Someone could really make a mint reselling this stuff. I don't think that slightly higher cost of imported parts is really an issue with most people.I think the main problem is that most of us don't want to be bothered because its to hard to communicate with these Asian companies when it comes to coverting dollars to yen and just a plain old language barrier. If some company like GGG were to order large quantities of stock then obviously they would be able to sell the stuff somewhat cheaper but still make a good profit since they would be the only game in town that sells this stuff. I know Andy sells Sanwa joysticks but he refuses to sell any color other then red. We have no access to all the other cool colors. Hell,I don't think anyone in the U.S sells any Seimitsu sticks or buttons period. I know that "Dream Arcades" is starting to sell some Asian parts but I think its mostly faaaarr east China knockoff stuff which is ok but I'm more interested in quality name brand stuff from Sanwa and Seimitsu and it's just not really availiable in the U.S and U.K. If someone does carry Japanese stuff its usually maybe one model of joystick in one color only :P. I don't mean to whine but it just baffles me that not one company has picked up on the need for a wider variety of Asian arcade parts yet. Is there a reason that I'm missing or something ? I know that small companies don't want to take a chance on ordering a bunch of stuff without a fairly good gaurentee that they will be able to move the product but they should take into consideration that when it comes to a wide variety of Asian arcade parts,as of now they really wouldn't have much competition. Sorry for rambling but I see so many cool arcade parts and cabs from these Japanese companies and practically no way to get my hands on it :( Does anyone else feel this way or am I just a whining baby ? :) I may very well be just that....I dunno

they are cool and I want some.  ;D

however the main issue with these and other asian imports is the shipping.  And if you manage to get a huge enough order to make a sea container full...the storage will be a huge ordeal.  plus not many are willing to tie up capital in inventory that may or may not sell.

best bet is to find some importer and see if they can tack it on with their shipment of razor-type scooters, fake vomit, cell phone chargers and knockoff purses.  ;)

You can get some of the parts but with the prices that most pay for Happ joysticks/buttons, I don't think very many would be willing to fork out over three times as much for Sanwa.

I just bought 2 joysticks, 2 restrictor plates and 14 buttons and spent about $109.  To a lot of people that is probably too much to spend for just those items.

Well this is what I'm trying to say. If a local company were to purchase a large quantity of parts they would get a much better price per unit. Fill up the smallest container availiable and bring it over here. Yes, we would have to pay a bit more per item so that they could recoupe the cost of shipping but I still think they could make a decent profit as the prices for Asian parts go WAAAY down when you're ordering in the hundreds. This is the problem though as nobody would be willing to buy so much of one item in order to get that great price. If someone were to take the plunge I still don't think they would have problems moving it all because not only could he sell to individuals but he could sell the parts in larger quantities to other local companies and on Ebay as well. With Japanese parts getting more and more popular I really don't think that he would get stuck with unwanted parts. It takes all companies *some* time to move product. No company expects to buy a large quantity of a givin product on one day and sell every last one within a month. It takes time to turn over product. It just seems to me that if someone were to do this that they would have a bit of an edge as far as moving the product since there's really no one over here selling these particular brands of parts. Ahh,I dunno. I'm not in the retailing business so what the hell do I know. I'm sure it's alot more complicated then what I'm making it out to be but one can dream can't they ?

If your in the US then just ask Rod.  He is a US Distributor for Sanwa Japanese parts and such.  He can get you just about anything from their site (Buttons, Joysticks, Control Panels, etc; ).  He also has been recently starting to deal in Semitsu parts too.

His website is www.himuragames.com

Well, the buttons at himuragames.com look like they're $3-$3.50    People in the Main Forum are already chomping at the bit to pay $4 for light-up microswitch buttons. They are a 'specialty item' and I think that the people who really want light up buttons would pay $4-$5 for them.

Although very cool, I don't think people are going to want to pay $15-$18 per lightup button.  :P

Wow your right that is pretty expensive.  I didn't bother looking at their price before.  And then you'd have to pay even more to cover the shipping.

Yeah I guess I'll give Rod a call since he does have one of the models that I like. I may also e-mail Andy Warne and see if he might be interested in stocking those translucent light up Sanwa buttons. All he has to do is check this message board to see how many people are looking for this style of button. I think he would sell quite a few. Well, thanks for the replies guys. :)

Even if Rod or Andy stock them, they can't sell them at a loss, so expect maybe $10 per button, which is still to much IMHO.

Holy crap I guess I missed the price! :o Yeah,I guess I can now understand why someone wouldn't want to try to resell these. With a starting price like that how could you possibly mark it up any further to make a profit ? The answer is "you can't"

If anyone really wants to order these illuminated buttons, oxtsu on the shmups board is making a large seimitsu order, and will add anything in you want from their site.
