Good PC case for a cab
« on: April 21, 2005, 01:28:31 pm »

Here's a cheap PC case with a removable motherboard tray that includes  the bit for AGP and PCI cards, etc. to mount to.  It would be great for mounting your motherboard to the inside wall of your cab but still keep the PCI and graphics cards secure.

$40

Why not just mount the MB right to the inside wall of the cab?
Most people aren't going to be shaking their cabs around enough to loosen the cards
and if you're really worried about it you could easily make a DIY bracket to screw the cards down on
$38.99 isn't too much i guess but you could spend it on some controls instead

Yeah but if you aren't using a case, how are you situating the hard drive and any other drives that might be in the system? I saw pics of a hard drive literally duct-taped to the sidewall of the cab, and that didn't exactly seem like an ideal solution. :o

Most cheap cases on newegg.com and other places are cheaper than simply buying a power supply.  You might as well keep the computer usable and in the case if you need to buy one for power anyway.

I'd like to see a picture of that Gary
How expensive is it to go with a rack mount?

Did you consider putting a bracket in there to "rack mount" your rack mount case?

Not in the arcade machine but in my Juke there is going to be one. For the arcade machine it was more about I liked the shape of the case and it fit where I had space.

OK, my girlfriend let me use one of her old bras. So how do I use this to keep my hard drive in place?

I love it when I get the unexpected belly laugh, reminds me of my fiancee letting me use her old panties to clean up binding glue.  Thanks for the memories, RayB.

A while back, I posted a link to one of those right angle adapters for your AGP slot.  It seems like a good idea if you want to mount a motherboard without a case.  That way, the video card lays down flat.

If anybody is interested, I can try to dig up the link again.
