Pitfall. Anyone know why Mame doesn't support it yet?
« on: November 22, 2002, 03:22:59 pm »
Is there any reason it isn't supported? Are boards rare to find or something? I loved that game on the Commodore 64. Is there any other emulators that support the arcade version? There WAS an arcade version wasn't there?

Hmm, I'm beginning to think I didn't waste ENOUGH of my childhood in an arcade!  ;)

There is Pitfall 2 Arcade by Sega.  No Pitfall 1.  That was done on the Atari 2600 and then ported to other systems.

The reason Pong is not in Mame is that it can't be emulated.  There is no software in pong to emulate, which is what Mame does.  Pong was all done in hardware.

It looks like Pong was in mame, but it was removed becuase it was technically a simulation of Pong, not an emulation of Pong.

as Superdude said, Pitfall was an Activision release for the Atari 2600.  There never was an arcade game called Pitfall.
