Here's a great source for Lexan
« on: November 21, 2002, 12:37:56 pm »
(And other materials)

I ordered some sheets of 24x12 1/8" lexan for $6 each, but they had lots of different sizes and thickness, as well as other materials

Ordered it right on the website saturday night, it got shipped ups Monday, and I got it today(Thursday) for.. $4 bucks I think?

The sheets are clean, paper backed on both sides, good lookin stuff

www.freckleface.com is the site, Peirce-Ohio Companies is the actual name

Ive seen some people asking about where to get lexan material and I'm just posting here cuz I'm satisfied with 'em

Or McMaster-Carr at www.mcmaster.com.  They have distributors in practically every state and are cheaper than the previous post's listing and will deliver faster as well.

For example, order today by 8:00pm, and have it tomorrow by noon via standard UPS Ground.

Do they carry lexan, I can only seem to find Polycarbonate sheets.  Is that better or equal to lexan? thanks.

Lexan is a brand name, Polycarbonate is the material.

It's like saying I ordered a Coke but all they had was cola.......

Just some input.    The bullet proof form of lexan or polycarbonate sheeting is VERY EXPENSIVE.   There are varying forms of lexan and i believe the bullet "resistant" form uses some additives to achieve this form of the plastic.

Any standard lexan sheeting is going to give you MORE durability then you can imagine.    Polycarbonate plastic is TUFF STUFF.  I use polycarbonate tubing for martial arts sticks and i haven't had one break yet!  NO JOKE!  So pretty much standard lexan is going to be more then enough in durability for even the die hard gamer :)
